Blog Tour Review + Giveaway: Dead in a Dumpster by B.L. Blair

“I found the body on December 1st. It was a horrible way to end an already terrible day.”

When Leah Norwood finds the body of Isabel Meeks in the dumpster behind her store, she never imagined the police would consider her a suspect. Sure, she didn’t liked Isabel, but then again, neither did anyone else. Isabel had a condescending attitude and a bad reputation. As manager of the antique store, Patina, she had made a lot of enemies.

There is Patina’s assistant manager, the handsome and charming Trent. Isabel was blackmailing him. There is Patina’s owner, the aloof and influential Anthony Thorpe. Isabel was smuggling drugs through his store. And there is the entire drug dealing Cantono family. Isabel had lost a box containing heroin from one of their shipments. That is just to name a few and didn’t even include the stranger who was seen arguing with Isabel just hours before her death.

The police have too many suspects and too many soft alibis. Leah needs to prove to the sexy new chief of police that she had nothing to do with Isabel’s death.

Leah loves a good mystery. Can she find the killer before the police charge her with murder?

My Thoughts: What would you do if you found the body of a person you disliked? Dead in a Dumpster was a fun and cozy read. Though it was a murder mystery, I found myself laughing a few times and enjoying myself.

The plot of the story was entertaining. The first paragraph was a major hook to the story. I do admit, though, that after the opening, the story dragged on for me. However, it began to pick up when Leah decided to solve the murder mystery herself. The idea of Leah trying to solve the case and avoid being charge for murder was fascinating. I also found myself liking the subtle romance between her and the Chief of Police.

Leah was a compelling character. She was witty, smart, and absolutely fun. She enjoyed a good mystery and it was funny how she was the suspect of the mystery she needed to solve. She went around questioning people as if she were a cop. It was a little mind boggling how she was able to get away with her trying to solve this crime without damaging too much of the evidence.

In the end, I found myself liking this story. Yes, it started off slow for me but it quickly picked up. I rate it:
