Friday Posts, 12/20/16

Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice and Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. The idea is to share a sentence or so from the first page and the 56th page of the book you are currently reading!

That's my considered opinion.
Screwed.

Page 56 (or so...It's hard to tell with Overdrive on Nook): Yeah. This all sounds like a great idea with no chance of catastrophic failure.
That was sarcasm, by the way.

I've been wanting to watch the movie since it came out, but I refused to watch it until I read the book. Well, I am finally getting to it and I'm enjoying it!

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Every Friday, a question is asked and bloggers hop around to check out everyone's response. Here's this Friday's response:

Your New Year's Resolution is to read a classic novel that you have never read before. What book will it be?

Answer: Oh my goodness...that's a tough one because there are a few classics that I will like to read. Hmmm...If I have to pick one as my New Year's Resolution then it will be The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo.

Why? Well, I've been obsessed with the story since I was introduced to it by Disney when I was a little girl. I've seen different movie versions of it and have read a children's book version of it. I think it's time that I finally read the original. Plus, I loved Victor Hugo's Les Miserables and I have Hunchback in my TBR pile. :)

Thanks for visiting my blog!!!

  1. Ohh great choice on the classic! I'll have to add it to my list. I picked Ulysses on account of my multiple failed attempts to read it. Have a great weekend! :D

  2. What a fun idea for a classic read! It's one of those books that I know is a book but have never thought to read. I saw the movie The Martian not to long ago and really enjoyed it. I hope you enjoy both!

  5. I saw the movie but haven't read the book. I'm sure it's much richer in detail than the movie was. I hope you enjoy both!
(By the way, the link you posted for Book Beginnings didn't work.)

  6. I LOVED The Martian when I read it. I heard about it on Book Riot, and promptly bought the audiobook. Since, my wife has also listened to the audiobook (which she wouldn't even turn off when I walked in the house, so you know it's good). Happy reading!

  9. The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo is a good choice! I am surprised to learn my husband hasn't read it. He loves the Disney film, which I'm sure is quite different. I had read part of Les Miserables by Victor Hugo years ago, but my university studies got in the way and I never finished it. I would like to go back and do so at some point. Not sure it will be this year though.

I hope you have a wonderful New Year, Vonnie!

    1. I hope you are able to get back to Les Miserables. I know it's a super long book, but it's worth the read!
