First Book of the Year 2017!

This is my first time participating in the First Book of the Year meme hosted by Shelia from Book JourneyJoin us in announcing what book you are starting with for the new year!

Here's my book:

I plan to start the new year with a book that has been on my TBR pile for a long time, Newes from the Dead by Mary Hooper.

I will also continue reading The Martian by Andy Weir and listening to The Winter Witch by Paula Brackston. I hope to be done with these last two books by the time Bout of Books read-a-thon begins on Monday. My focus for the read-a-thon is to knock down more books on my TBR pile.

So what book are you starting the new year with?

  2. Good choice, to pick one that has been "languishing" on your stacks, like the girl in your blog header. LOL.

  3. Yay, love your post. I need to make a First Book of the Year post later today as well!!

I also still have a few books I need to finish reading from last year. It feels so weird to have unfinished books to read from last year.

Happy reading to you and good luck with Bout of Books 18!!

    1. It is weird! I wish that I can focus more so I can finish my reads. Oh well, I enjoy the speed that I am in. :)

  4. Yeah...I need to tackle my bookshelf too. I saw The Martian movie twice and would watch it again it's that good, but I bet the book is better. Thanks for visiting my blog!

  6. Alway good to choose one that you have been intending to read for awhile. I loved the Martian, although I listened to the audio which I loved.

    1. I heard that the audio was really good. I might choose that if I decide to re-read it again.

  9. I didn't realize Bout of Books was going on. Oops. Of course I haven't been reading much while I've been sick but I do like to participate in that. Good luck with the readathon!

I have heard Newes of the Dead is fascinating. I tried reading The Martian but gave up and watched the movie instead (which I really liked). Maybe one of these days I'll pick the book back up again.

    Happy New Year!
