My teaser:

" 'So, you're saying that the immigrants are not becoming Americanized, but that America is changing and adapting to the influx of immigrant groups?'
"     'A little of both, yes.' I mean, what the heck is American? 'It's always been that way in this country. It changes and adapts to incoming immigrants. It's what makes America so cool. We're always growing and changing. Where other countries might buckle under the added pressure and stress, we adapt and become stronger."

Okay, so this was more than two sentences but I felt that these sentences needed to be shared as a whole.

By the way, I am very excited to finally get this book started. I've read the first book Becoming Latina in 10 Easy Steps over six years ago and it's one of my favorite books of all time. I've only read the first six pages of Becoming Americana and it is already making me think really hard...What DOES it mean to be American?
