This hop is hosted by Billy over at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Every week bloggers answer a question and then visit other blogs that are participating. This week's question is:
You won a 5 minute shopping spree from your favorite book store! What will you grab?
A: Only 5 minutes? Geesh, I think I'll go running to the Literature section and just start grabbing books. Even though I have a wish list, I know that being pressured to buy books in 5 minutes will make me forget what I want. It happens to me even when I visit a store unprepared. So yes, I'll just grab whatever catches my attention and I'll grab as many books that I can carry. But the idea to get a shopping spree is plain exciting. Can we really have this?
Book Beginnings on Friday is hosted by Rose City Reader and The Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice.
Call Me Zelda by Erika Robuck
The beginning: "The ward was never the same after the February afternoon when Zelda Fitzgerald stumbled into the psychiatric clinic with a stack of papers clutched to her chest, eyes darting this way and that, at once pushing from and pulling toward her husband like a spinning magnet."
Page 56: "There was one soldier who looked out of place. It was his large, sad eyes she noticed first, the heavy fringe of lashes. He was pretty enough to be a woman."

The opening lines grabbed my attention. It made me wonder who Zelda was and why she was at a psychiatric clinic. I am hoping that I'll enjoy this book.
Wow, yeah, 5 min. is not very long!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I probably wouldn't go for certain books because it would take 5 min. just to find one.
I would go to B&N because I know that store like the back of my hand.
I would spend 2.5 min. in "New Fiction" and just start pulling books. Then the other 2.5 min. in "Christian fiction" and do the same and maybe grab a couple YAs on the way LOL. Wow I actually have a plan! Its a good plan, now can I win?
I wish to know more!

I wouldn't be able to remember much of what I was looking for either. Five minutes really isn't enough, is it? Happy Hopping!
