There were two challenges today:
The Rules for the Challenge:
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier and Replacing Gentry by Julie N. Ford
Rebecca is the classic tale of an unnamed main character who marries a rich widower and soon comes to learn that she is replacing the man's dead wife. Replacing Gentry is a modern retelling of Rebecca with its own twist.
The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux and Phantom by Susan Kay
To know where the famous musical came from and to read a good classic, read the original novel by Gaston Leroux. The original brought many unanswered questions about Erik the Opera Ghost and Susan Kay wrote a book to answer these questions. Many people prefer Susan Kay's book more than the original. Read the classic first then the retelling and compare the two.
Found Poem Challenge
Hosted by Pen in Her Hand
Just choose a novel from any genre, print or ebook, that you’re reading or have finished. Pick a number between 1 and 10, and you’re ready to start! I picked the book, An Unlikely Pair by Monya Clayton
1. Flip to a page at random. Using your trusty number (for example, let’s use 7) count down 7 lines. Then count in 7 words. Write that word down. Repeat this process until your have fourteen words. I used 8. Here are my words: where, them, bent, in, name, hands, stroked, boat, thought, knelt, need, still, them, she.
2. Delete two words and add in two words of your own. I deleted the words them and them. I added the words the and was.
3. Now arrange your words any way you like to finish your found poem.
Here's my poem:
Where the boat she knelt still,
bent in need,
name was thought,
hands stroked.
Hmmm...that came out a little naughty, lol.
