Well, that's right. It's my blog's 10 year anniversary!!! Wow!!!
So much has happened these past 10 years. I started my book blog strong with daily posts and reviews. I've been MIA these past few years because life simply happened. Vonnie's Reading Corner had to sit back and wait while I tried to survive mentally and physically.
Am I going to return to blogging like I used to? No, I simply do not have the time or energy to keep up with multiple posts a week.
Am I going to keep this blog going? You know...I've been going back and forth about retiring my blog, but every time I try to write a Goodbye post, I get really depressed. So I decided that I will keep going for now but I will occasionally post. So you'll probably see some months more active than others but do expect to see a few posts every so often.
Now, is anybody still coming by to check on this blog? Probably not. But that's okay. I started Vonnie's Reading Corner mostly for me. I wanted a creative place where I can write down my thoughts about the books that I've read. Yes, there was a time that I tried to connect with the book blogging community and I tried to gain followers, but honestly, that was exhausting.
Of course it doesn't mean that I do not appreciate the few relationships that I have created through blogging. There are my favorite blogs that I like to visit and I still get excited reading comments from people that really read my posts.
So, Vonnie's Reading Corner...Happy 10 Year Blogoversary!!!
Happy Blogoversary! Even with a looser schedule, 10 years is still amazing! I've been noticing the blogosphere is getting quiet these years. Seems everyone is dropping reviews and doing things on TikTok or whatever. I don't have time for that myself. I'd rather read a written review because I can get through it faster than a video. It's just not my style I guess.
ReplyDeleteI hope whatever you decide to do with your blog, you're happy with it! That's what I've always told my friends when I've seen them write that goodbye post. When blogging feels too much like a job, or just doesn't bring on the joy that it once did, it's time to take a step back. You can always come back. People like me will always be here! Lol.
Happy Blogoversary! <3
Yeah...I am not a TikTok person. I refuse to download the app. However, I do Litsy and that has entertained me and kept me motivated to read.
DeleteWork has not been pleasant these past three years (in fact this school year has been the worst), which made it very difficult for me to have the motivation to read. This of course affected my desire to write any blogs. Having Litsy made things a little easier for me to get book information.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving such kind words!
I'm not nobody. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy blogoversary!
Hi Freda! I am glad to see you on Litsy and Instagram! Thanks for all of your support!
DeleteHappy 10-year Blogoversary! That's quite an accomplishment. I will always stop by to check if you've posted anything new, and look forward to whenever you feel like posting. I intend to catch up on reviews this summer, but I feel like I also said that LAST summer, so...
ReplyDeleteOh...reviews...
DeleteI don't think I'll catch up by this point. I'll just post the ones I feel inspired to write about.
Thanks so much for continuing to stop by! I love visiting your blog every so often. Your posts are definitely inspiring!!
I am in the same boat. I took a good hard look at the books that still need reviews and started removing ones I do not feel passionate about either way. I am also allowing myself to do mini reviews, which helps a ton. Just a few quick sentences about the book and I'm done.
DeleteThank you as well, I am glad that I can be inspiring to other readers!
I am not sure if Blogger ate my comment, something weird happen with the screen. Yikes.
DeleteMini reviews are great! And I have no idea what happened with your previous comment.
DeleteHappy 10 year blogiversary to you, Vonnie! I have felt many of the same sentiments as you have about blogging!
ReplyDeleteDitto!
DeleteHowever, I am glad to still see you around. I get excited to see new posts on your blog. :)
I am always excited to see your new posts as well. I am hoping to make a Little Free Library post later this month about all the new to me Little Free Libraries I've discovered in 2022 so far.
DeleteI also downloaded the new LFL app to my mobile phone and have enjoyed testing it out this year... It makes finding LFLs easier to do in the spur of the moment.
I downloaded it as well! I am excited to use it when I go to Colorado this week.
DeleteI have noticed that the LFL app doesn't always get you right to the exact location for some of the LFLs. 3 out of 10 times it has taken us to to the general location, but slightly off by up to a quarter of a mile.
