Friday Posts, 10/25/13

This hop is hosted by Billy over at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Every week bloggers answer a question and then visit other blogs that are participating.  This week's question is:

Halloween Edition: What is your favorite horror novel and why?

A: I have read a few horror books that I've quite enjoyed such as Dracula, I am Legend, Interview with the Vampire, anything by H.P. Lovecraft, etc...The one book that has to be my favorite though is The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty.

I've seen the movie many times before I read the book. It was creepy but I was never freaked out by it as my mom was and countless other people. Then I decided to read the book five years ago and boy, was I scared!

You know how they say that the book is better than the movie? Well, here it's definitely true. I got to understand a lot more what was going on with the exorcism and how terrifying it was for the little girl to be possessed. I was not able to sleep well at night when I was reading this.

Book Beginnings on Friday is hosted by Rose City Reader and The Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice.

 Shuttered Affections by Rene Folsom

The beginning: " 'First impressions are highly overrated.' Just my luck."

Page 56: "As I gathered my digital camera from the car and walked around back, Maddy nearly mauled me and exclaimed, 'Where have you been? This place is absolutely breathtaking!' "
These lines are not as impressive but it's a really good book. And look at the cover! Isn't it breathtaking?!

  3. If by "Favorite horror novel" they meant scariest - then yeah "The Exorcist" when I read it, I couldn't read it past 5:00! Scared the crap outta me! I read the book before watching the movie.

    1. When I was reading it, I only had time during the night. Needless to say, I had a hard time sleeping.

  4. Great choice! I've never read the Exorcist I did see the movie, and it scared the hell out of me when I was a kid.

  7. I'm one of those people who don't enjoy horror movies or books, mainly because I have a hard time getting the images out of my head! But I enjoyed your Book Beginnings and Friday 56 excerpts. That sounds like my kind of book.
