My Thoughts: What a sweet love story this was! I was immediately hooked into the plot and characters. It was almost a perfect love story. Like the title said, this book is only the beginning.
This book was engrossing. I liked how the author was able to create sad situations into positive ones. There were twists and turns, as well, throughout the story that had me captivated. However, there were a few moments that I did find myself struggling with what was happening. These parts did not deter me though from continuing reading the book. I was curious to know how everything was going to end.
Next, the characters were well written. I could easily picture the main characters, Lillian and Carson. I loved how they were different yet very similar at the same time. Both were in the medical field but Lillian was more cautious in the relationship while Carson knew exactly what he wanted. I really enjoyed reading them as a couple.
Other than some moments being a struggle for me to read, I had mix feelings about the ending. It was too sad for me. I don't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing. It was definitely a cliffhanger, which made me wonder what the next book would be about, but I would have liked to have read something else. I don't know, I guess I really liked the idea of the possibility of Lillian and Carson becoming something bigger.
Overall, this was a beautiful tale. There were struggles but there were also many wonderful moments. Once I get over the ending, I think I would like to try reading the second book. I rate it:
