The Tesla Gate
When a cosmic storm enters Earth’s atmosphere, scientists are baffled by its composition and origins, but not nearly as much as they are by the storm’s side effect – anyone who has died and chosen not to cross over is suddenly stranded here, visible, and can interact with the living.
With the world thrown into chaos, Thomas Pendleton is eager to make up for many broken promises to his six-year-old son, Seth. Soon after the storm, they set out on a road trip to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC, completely unaware of the social and political maelstrom they’re heading into that will change their lives forever.
My Review: Get your tissues ready because you are going to need them! I knew this was going to be a good book, but I did not realize how much I was going to love The Tesla Gate. I also did not realize how emotionally involved I would be reading this book. I was completely enraptured from page one and I devoured every page until the end.
The plot of this book was riveting. The idea of a freak storm causing spirits to be visible to the living was scary, fascinating, and depressing at the same time. It made me wonder how I would react if all of a sudden dead loved ones appeared to me as if they were still alive. At the same time, the thought of these spirits still being around and not being able to cross over made me very sad. In some instances, it sounded awesome that President Lincoln was still around the White House and Elvis Presley was spotted eating sandwiches. However, it was heart-wrenching to read how the spirit of a six-year-old did not cross over because he wanted to spend time with his father. It was also very interesting to read how people, even those in power, reacted to this phenomena making everything feel real.
What made this book to be so amazing was the wonderful character development. The main character Thomas was a very hard-working father who put his job first before his family. Thomas would justify his priorities by stating that his hard work was to benefit his family. Unfortunately, a father's worst nightmare happened and Thomas came to realize that what he thought was important wasn't really important. With this freak storm, Thomas was given a second chance to redeem himself. I absolutely loved how his character matured in trying to do so.
I would like to keep talking about how good this book was, but I'm afraid to spoil it. I loved the plot and I loved the character development. I simply loved how this book was able to make me feel emotionally connected to it for I cried a few times while reading it. This is a great Sci-fi, thriller book. I highly recommend it:
