Friday's Posts: Dec. 23, 2016

It has been a while (2 years in fact) since I've participated in these memes. So here goes!

Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice and Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. The idea is to share a sentence or so from the first page and the 56th page of the book you are currently reading!

Beginning: "You looking for work?"
The guy in the pickup asked the question, but he had to have already known the answer.

Page 56: "I don't think that there was the slightest hint, then or since, that she might have done the shooting or that Jake was the actual target."

This is my first David Rosenfelt book and I am highly enjoying it. Though it's a mystery book, it has me chuckling here and there. Also...isn't the cover so cute?

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Every Friday, a question is asked and bloggers hop around to check out everyone's response. Here's this Friday's response:

Do you participate in reading challenges that have you reading for 24 hours, challenges that have a yearly goal, challenges that have you reading certain genres, or do you not participate in challenges?

Answer: I have participated once for a 24 hour reading challenge but only as a cheerleader. I simply don't have the stamina to read for long periods of time. Also, if my body is sleepy, it will go to sleep no matter how good a book is. Thus, I don't really participate in these types of read-a-thons. However, I have participated in yearly goals such as the Audiobook Challenge, the TBR Challenge, as well as read-a-thons like Bout of Books. These are easier for me to participate in.

Thanks for visiting my blog!!!

    1. The cover is the main reason why I picked up the book. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. This does look like a good story. I really like the cover. I don't do challenges except the GoodReads one. I'm bad at keeping track. I dug into TBR mountain to read Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead this week. Happy reading!

    1. I have a hard time with GR's challenges because of the tracking. Maybe there's something I am missing?

  3. Fun cover, and it sounds like a clever story. I've signed up for a couple of challenges, but then I forget to log what I've read. Now I don't bother to participate.

  4. This looks so cute! I love the idea of challenges but my follow through on them isn't great. I'm intrigued by the 24 hour readathon partly just to see if I can do it!

  8. Great to see you on the Book Blogger Hop this week!!

I am bad at challenges, and only participate in the Goodreads Challenge. No stress for me with the Goodreads Challenge, and the stress of challenges is what keeps me from doing them.

    Happy Hopping!!

    1. Oh no! They're not supposed to be stressful. Well, at least you know yourself. Reading should be fun.
