Dead Running and Dying to Run Blog Stop

Blog Tour Schedule

Here's my blog stop for Cami Checkett's Dead Running and Dying to Run. This blog tour is hosted by I am a Reader Not a Writer. My stop includes reviews for the both books. Also, there's a wonderful giveaway at the bottom of the page. Enjoy!

Dead Running

Cassidy Christensen is running.
Running from the mercenaries who killed her parents.
Running from a scheming redhead intent on making her life miserable.
Running from painful memories that sabotage her dreams of happiness.

With two very tempting men competing for her attention, she hopes she'll finally have someone to run to, but can she trust either of them? When secrets from her past threaten her family, Cassidy decides to stop running and fight for her future.

My Thoughts: Who would have thought a book about running could be so much fun? Not only is running involved but so is murder and the constant worry of the main heroine's life. The characters and the story had me hooked from beginning to end.

I greatly enjoyed the characters. I liked Cassie tremendously. She was funny, strong, and determined to prove herself not just to others but mostly to herself. I liked her Nana a lot because it reminded me of my grandmother and I liked Cassie's friends as well. I especially liked the description of the men that were going after her, Jesse and Damon. It had me constantly guessing if these two men were good or bad news.

The story was great. It started off with a great bang. Cassie and her father were fighting for their lives, then it moved on to four years later where we find out that Cassie had lost her parents. Since the death of her parents, Cassie had lost herself and did not know what to do with herself. She was entered into a marathon and soon came to learn that running will help her set her goals straight. Along with self-discovery, the story is filled with suspense, mystery, and romance that had me glued to it.

I liked the book very much. It was fast paced and very entertaining. It was also inspiring because it made me go out running (I only ran a mile instead of the 20+ that Cassie runs, lol). For that, I give this book:

Dying to Run

Cassidy Christensen wants to run.

Captured by the traffickers who killed her mother, her only hope is Dr. Tattoo, a man she loves but nobody trusts. When she finally gets a chance to run, someone else she cares about is taken. Running might be her only chance at survival, but she won’t allow another family member to be killed in her place.

This must-read sequel to Dead Running will have you laughing, biting your nails, and hoping for more.

My Thoughts: This novella that follows Dead Running was enjoyable. It was easy to read and easy to get into.

The story of this one was also very entertaining. Two weeks had passed since the first book and the opening greeted the reader with a lot of action. The men who were out to kill her parents were after Cassie again. The events in this book had my heart hammering.

I really enjoyed Cassie in the first book, but here she did get on my nerves just a tad bit. She was still brave and funny but she quickly judged people because of their actions. I almost wanted to shake her towards the end. Other than that, I did greatly enjoyed reading about her and her love interest, and I enjoyed the fact the book had me wondering how Cassie was going to survive.

The story was good and a great way to continue the story. I do wish that it was longer though. I give it:
