Friday Fun: Jan. 7th

It's Friday and it's time for some fun! Friday 56 is hosted by Freda's Voice, First Line Fridays is hosted by Reading is My SuperPower, Book Beginnings by Rose City Reader, and Book Blogger Hop by The Coffee Addicted Writer

Today's book is Scythe by Neal Shusterman:

First Line/Book Beginnings"We must, by law, keep a record of the innocents we kill."

Page 56: "3) The Scythe's Pets: These were the people who were out of their way to engage the scythe and offer him something with the secret (not so secret) hope that he might grant them immunity, or at least glean the person to their right instead of them some day."

Book Blogger Hop Question:

"Do you have a genre you haven't read before but would like to?"

Uhh...I think that I've read almost every genre. Perhaps the genre I would like to give more of a chance is science fiction.

  1. Scythe sounds interesting. I have heard good things about Neal Shusterman and know this series is well liked. I hope you are enjoying it!

I am not sure how I would answer the book blogger hope question this week. I am sure there is a genre I haven't tried, or perhaps a subgenre (probably more of those I haven't, really). I enjoy science fiction myself but don't read a lot of it. I wish I did. I hope you have a great weekend!

  5. Happy Friday!
I'm currently reading A Heart Adrift by Laura Frantz. It is AWESOME!
I'm just beginning chapter 23, so I will share a line from there.
"Henri was on the verge of saying nay to the proposed mission, and he sensed that the governor's council, a body of astute, shrewd men, knew it."
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  6. I read in most genres. Not sure there's one I've missed that I'd like to read. I'm currently reading Stone by Ronie Kendig. The first line is "Some days were meant to test a man; others meant to undo him."

  8. I don't read much sci-fi either. My first line come from Never Leave Me by Jody Hedlund: https://daniellegrandinetti.com/2022/01/07/first-line-friday-never-leave-me/
